Air KBZ (IATA code KZ) is a privately owned Burmese start-up airline, which launched domestic scheduled services from Yangon on 2 April 2011. Two routes are currently being flown: from Yangon to Mandalay and Heho, and from Yangon to Myeik. The carrier received its first aircraft, a Pratt & Whitney PW127F powered, 1998-vintage, ATR72-500 (reg XY-AIT, serial 0543) on lease from Nordic Aviation Capital on 28 February 2011. Air KBZ plans to have four ATR72s in service by the end of 2011 and to eventually serve over a dozen domestic destinations, as well as selected international routes. The airline was created in 2010 by Kanbawza Bank and originally planned to launch services as Air Kanbawza.
